Participants will leave the session with a "road map" for their career, which will enable them to better choose sessions in the main PHM conference to further augment their skillset in the chosen direction. This meeting is hosted by the faculty development section of APA's Hospital Medicine SIG and sponsored by the Academic Pediatric Association.

PRIS-CHA Workshop: Paper in a Day at PHM
July 19, 2018 - 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Paper in a Day at PHM is co-sponsored by Pediatric Research in the Inpatient Setting (PRIS) and Children's Hospital Association (CHA). The workshop is targeted to fellows or junior faculty who would like to learn how to use administrative data (e.g. HCUP KID, PHIS) for research. We will describe existing databases available for research, and provide a roadmap to successfully conduct research with this type of data. We will perform an actual study and draft a manuscript. At the conclusion of the workshop, all analyses will be completed, tables and figures will be ready for publication, and the manuscript will be outlined.

Register for the workshop by emailing: sherri.arens@childrenshospitals.org.

Planning Committee

The PHM 2018 Planning Committee is charged with the selection of the PHM 2018 educational content and creation of the schedule. The planning committee requests submissions for consideration each year. Once all proposals have been submitted the planning committee is then tasked with reviewing and scoring the submissions. This year's planning committee consists of (3) members of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), (3) members of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Hospital Medicine (AAP SOHM) and (3) members of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA). The host society for the conference year selects the Planning Chair from its three members of the planning committee.
